Before applying for a MVV visa in The Netherlands, it’s mandatory to pass the civic integration exam, in dutch it’s called inburgeringsexamen.

This exam consists of two parts, a dutch language part and the second part about dutch society. The dutch society part can be studied at home with the “naar nederland” study kit mentioned below. You will need to answer 30 questions about dutch society. The questions are in dutch and you are required to answer them in dutch. The exam itself is taken at the dutch embassy. Applying for a schedule to do the exam can be done here and will you cost 350 euro.

The language part is done with four different tests;

  1. repeat sentences
  2. answer short questions
  3. telling the opposite of words
  4. repeat two short stories

To study the dutch society part of the exam you need the “Naar Nederland” book and dvd. This can be obtained thru the naar nederland website here.

It have posted some helpfull documents to practice the dutch language part here;

More information can be found on the “buitenlandse partner” forum. Such as the exam questions.

With your “naar nederland” studykit you get 3 unique codes to take a practice examen thru phone, now someone recorded An mp3 audio file of the practice exam you get with the “naar nederland” studymaterial.

In order to speed things up with the dutch language exam we took private lessons in Manila from the highly recommended dutch teacher Ronald Roosloot. 1. Those informations are really helpful for self-learning like me, especially the documents of opposites and example test. I was wondering if there is more information about the Dutch language part. I’d like to know more about those possible questions and I can practice at home. If there is someone who is willing to help me out, I would be much obliged to it. Please send the information to my mail: mercedesmonkey@gmail.com

  2. id like to recieve the dutch exam practice

  3. It is great that you posted practice stuff too. Logically, the Embassy or the website that has the information of the exam SHOULD provide with samples… Anyways Thanks a lot, you solved my problem. Cheers!

  4. Nice overview of information. Though, it seems the mp3 is not available? Not allowed to access, or do I have to sign up for that forum first?

    • I think the forum needs a account, please feel free to signup since it really has a lot of information to offer!

  5. your post is quite helpful…i didnt know that the applicant must undergo an exam..and now im aware of it that i must slowly learn the dutch language i guess i will start at the basics…i listened to the mp3..but i cannot understand..there should be at least an interpretation in every word they said…but do i still have to take up the examination even if my visa is for tourist’s only?…thanks..

    • The exam is only for the MVV, not for a tourist visa.

      • Hi Dutch VISA,

        i just want to informed you that, im planning to file an MVV Exam, maybe this coming June or July (I’m not sure what month but hopefully this year 2011)..is that the type of exam is the same for the previous year or become more difficult, i mean something change about the exam..it will be more helpful your advices..thank u..

  6. Hi dutchvisa,

    Can you please tell me how they calculate the marks/points in the civic integration exam? I will appear in March end. What I get from reading is that you need 70 percent score in the picture book section and 16 points in the speaking and listening test! Is it true?

  7. hello everyone!im reviewing now for the preparation of my inburgering exam this march 2011..if you can give me some links that would help me a lot and some advices..it would be my pleasure..thanks..

  8. I’m quite shocked that this is required, to be honest. I am Dutch and my partner is Australian. I am getting a partner visa there based on evidence of a true relationship… but here in The Netherlands apparently he is not allowed to get a partner visa unless he learns Dutch? That’s a little odd. I don’t even know how on earth he can learn this specific level of Dutch. Are there any specifically aimed classes for it in Australia?
